The Law of Tithing
The word “tithing” means the giving of the tenth part of all our increase unto the Lord. In layman’s terms, if we have an increase of one dollar, God’s law require us to give ten cents. That is what tithing is about. The law is given to all children of God only and non-believers and sinners, in order to test our obedience and devotion to God. This is the part of our service and devotions where God requires sincerity and faithfulness. This is about giving unto the Lord as a means of obeying His words.
The word of God commands us to bring all the tithes into His storehouse. (Malachi 3:10) That’s the church of God, that the fellowship of God’s people. You do not give it to charitable institution, nor to any individual but you bring it to the house of God as an act of your obedience to God. Tithing belongs to God. The Bible declares that it is holy unto the Lord. The purpose or our tithes is to provide for the needs of our church and our ministries. This is the biblical way to finance the church of God, and only the people of God is given the responsibility to finance the house of God, not unbelievers and sinners. The work of the ministry is a very sacred work; that is why only things of God can be used for it.
The blessing of giving our tithes is tremendous as the words of God had declared it. The Bible declares that God will rebuke the devourer for us, that God will create a hedge of protection over us plus God will open the windows of heaven and give us a blessing that there will be no room for us to fill it. What a blessing! The Bible also reminds us of the consequence of God’s children who are not giving their tithes. The Bible says, you are robbing God and ye are cursed with a curse! My brothers and sisters, let us be faithful in this area of our service to God and let us avoid the consequence of being unfaithful. Instead, let us be faithful in our tithing, for God is faithful! God bless you all!
