The Purpose of Prayer

“Call unto me and I will answer thee, and I will show thee great and mighty things which thou sawest not.” - Jeremiah 33:3

The word “prayer” simply means “talking to God.” In this message, I would like to take a closer look at the reasons and the purpose of God why He wants people to pray. To some people, prayer is a waste of time. To some, it is the opportunity to submit to God a list of things they want God to do in their lives. I am not saying that this is wrong nor I am implying that God will not bless us when we pray. I believe God shows us great and mighty things when we call upon Him. This is His promise. The Bible says, “It is impossible for God to lie.” Lying is against His nature. God is an answering God. Praise the Lord.

It is my prayer that this message will enable us to see the purpose why He wants us to pray. His reason is plain and simple, He wants you to share your most intimate thoughts and feelings to Him because He wants to be a part of our lives. He wants to know if you really believe in Him and really trust in Him. He likes to see you coming to Him and share your thoughts and feelings regardless of the situation in your life.

He wants you to know that pouring His blessing in your life is something that he already promised to do, but for you to come in and telling Him that you really believe in Him. And he is the first to know the most intimate thoughts and feelings in your life. This is what God wants to see. He likes to see you pouring out yourself to Him. Talking to Him about your weakness, your struggles, your desires and your excitements when your victory comes. Church, when we do this, we will unleash the greatest blessing and the greatest revival that God hath prepared for us.
