The Truth About the Gospel
“For I am not ashamed of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth …” (Romans ch. 1 v. 16)
The word gospel means, good news. It is the good news of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, resurrection and His appearance to the disciples after His resurrection. Paul, in his letter to the Corinthian church had admonished to belive in the gospel for it can save them if they kept in memory what the gospel is about.
The gospel is about the Lord Jesus Christ and what He had done for us. It is about His death for the sin of the world, that whosoever believeth in Him should no perish but will have everlasting life. It is about a loving God, who became the Savior of a lost and dying world. It is about the provision of salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ for all of us. He shed His blood to satisfy law of God for the remission of sin. The Bible says, greater love hath no man when he laid down his life for his friends. The gospel is about the power of God unto salvation. But for it to be applied in our lives, we must first believe in it with all our hearts. The Lord has given us a set of rules to follow in order for the gospel to be applied in our lives. He said, “You must repent and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. After you have done these things, He said He has given you the power to become one of the children of God. This is the gift of God.
