Ambassador for Christ

What Makes Us a Christian?

The word “Christian” is a very loaded word, it means to be like Christ. The definition alone is already showing us the gravity of living life in accordance to this pattern. It takes us back to the time when our Lord Jesus Christ was demonstrating His ministry here on earth for three and a half years. The manner He depicted His behavior and character thru His actions and reactions. The Bible has shown us that He was tempted in all points and no sin was found in Him. That showed His exceptional self control and awesome demonstration of character.

The ultimate goal of our service as children of God, is to be like Him. In terms of self control, behavior and character as well. He is also our pattern of determination and unrelenting spirit. But the million dollar question is how in the world we are going to realize this goal? What makes us a Christian?

Some people have thought that education can make themselves a Christian, but surveys have proven them wrong because only 5% of the so called “professionals” are dedicated when it comes to faith and service to God. Some have thought that power can make them a Christian, again they were proven wrong for history proves that men with power seldom give glory to a higher power except for themselves. Finally, people who have thought that money can make them a Christian, they were wrong too. It was Jesus Christ himself who said it is easier for a camel to enter into the eye of the needle than a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. The Bible declares that where our treasure is, there our heart be also. If none of the above-mentioned factors make a Christian, then what does?

My brothers and sisters, the Bible declares that it is the Spirit of the Lord that makes us a true living Christian. The Spirit in us and the presence of God that we seek to experience is in our every fellowship, He is he one who can help realize this ultimate goal. Seek Him today and submit yourself. Allow Him to guide you and bring all things to your remembrance according to the will of God. You will be glad that you did.
